Apart from the organisation claiming brownie points on the green front, the only saving is in terms of getting the consumer to do the printing at their expense. And you do need to print it to share with your accountant. And that's where the whole user experience of this model breaks down.Because all these entities have taken it upon themselves to encrypt the pdf files they send you. To open each statement from each bank, demat account, IT return, what have you, you need a different password and user ID, NONE of which have been chosen by you, and usually something like your CRN (what's that) or account number ( do you know your landline account number- especially since it's NOT your telephone number)The worst is yet to come: if you try to do away with password security now that you feel this is sitting in your in-box or on your PC somewhere, you cannot because there is ANOTHER password set by the entity sending you the statement that controls removal of security! So every time you ever want to see your statement again, you have to find the right user ID, right password, and then when you close the file, that's it till the next time, where you do this all over again.Unless you print it out, which kind of defeats the idea of an e-statement anyway.brandsanewhttp://twitter.com/brandsanewnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7416095916386984923.post-88760289869451179912010-11-17T19:12:45.000+05:302010-11-17T19:12:45.000+05:30One workaround is to open the statement and immedi...One workaround is to open the statement and immediately print to PDF ! Maybe there is a business model for that, probably as an add-on to something like <a href="http://www.perfios.com">Perfios</a>.Rahul Basunoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7416095916386984923.post-26155313747188877152010-11-17T19:13:54.000+05:302010-11-17T19:13:54.000+05:30I just realized that companies spend much more mon...I just realized that companies spend much more money mailing marketing offers than statements. Many of us suffer from Adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder sir! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adult_attention_deficit_hyperactivity_disorderAnd those who don’t have this disorder, they suffer from Attention Scarcity bug! ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention_economyBut humans have amazing coping skills – so we rely on dashboards, leading indicators, vital few, allizzwell etc. :)Tharunhttp://innovationperspectives.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7416095916386984923.post-25223533571866797332010-09-29T11:22:52.000+05:302010-09-29T11:22:52.000+05:30Yup ! I think the rise of Apple to be the most valuable technology company in the world based largely on design (including Business Model Design and User Experience Design) is something to talk about. But where are the visionary entrepreneurs ? And are our designers capable to carrying an entire business on their shoulders ? I guess we won't know until we try.Rahul Basunoreply@blogger.com
